What's Cropping Up: Member Update for June 11, 2013

- The Penn Yan Rotary Club has canceled their Garden Club Tour for this Saturday, June 15th. They plan to reschedule in July. We will keep you posted on the new date.

- We discovered crows in the garden yesterday, feasting on lettuce and peanuts. We will soon be installing an owl decoy which will (hopefully) help keep the crows away. Other crow deterrents are shiny, moving things like aluminum pie plates or CDs, and even plastic snakes placed in garden beds. If you see crows or other pests destroying crops, or evidence of pests, please let us know.

- A volunteer, Bonnie C., has agreed to be available for gardeners' questions on Saturday mornings between 8:30 and 10:00 am. She grew up in Penn Yan and has gardened here all her life. Recently, she is a part time resident of Florida, where she is a Master Gardener. She will be at the garden this Saturday, the 15th. Feel free to stop by and say hi!

-If you're on Facebook, please 'Like' our page, which can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/PennYanCommunityGarden We can always use more friends, and we try to post new pictures often.

Happy gardening!
