1. The word "community" comes before the word "garden" for a reason.

Give, if you want to be given to.
Seek to understand, if you want to be understood.
Smile, and the world might smile back.
3. When something goes wrong, blame yourself.
When something goes well, praise others.
4. Keep a sense of humor.
5. Use persistence and patience in equal measures.
6. Believe everything works out in the end. That way when things haven't worked out, you'll know you haven't reached the end yet.
